Chapter 9: Wall

Your personal wall: post text, photos, voice notes, GIFs, spray art and doors, approve what others write, and how long posts last.

9.1 Personal Wall

What is the Wall?

Every KuhuChat member has a personal wall, like a shared notice board in front of their house. You and your people leave messages, photos, voice notes, GIFs, drawings and small gestures there.

How do I open my own wall?

Tap the brick-wall icon at the top left of the Samaj or Contacts tab. A number on it shows new activity (see 2.3).

How do I open someone else's wall?

From the Contacts tab, open a contact's card and tap View wall. You can also reach a member's wall from the walls shown in your wall activity.

Who can write on my wall?

Your contacts and members of your Samaj group, as long as they are connected to you. People you have blocked cannot.

What does "You're no longer connected to this person's village" mean?

Your village group and theirs used to be connected but have been separated. You can still see their old wall posts, but you cannot post new ones.

What do I see on my own wall?

Approved posts from others and you, and a pending section with posts waiting for your approval (see 9.3).

9.2 Posting and post types

How do I post on a wall?

Open the wall and use the bar at the bottom. It says "Write on [Name]'s wall". Type a message, or tap the attach button to choose another type of post, then send.

What can I post?

Text, emoji, a photo, a video, a voice note, a GIF (optionally with a music track), a door (see 9.7) or a spray drawing (see 9.4).

How do I record a voice note?

Use the microphone in the bar. The first time, the app asks for microphone permission. The bar shows the recording time.

What if I have no internet?

Your post shows as Queued and is sent automatically when you are back online.

Can I delete a post?

You can delete your own posts. As the wall owner, you can remove posts on your own wall.

Can I share a wall post?

Yes. Use the share option on a post to send it outside KuhuChat, forward it to a contact, to your Samaj, or to a group. Shared text carries a short KuhuChat footer.

9.3 Approval and the pending panel

Who needs approval?

Posts that other people write on your wall wait for you to approve: text, photos, videos and voice notes. Emoji, doors, sprays and GIFs go live straight away.

How do I approve?

Open your wall and look at the pending section labelled "Awaiting Approval". Each post shows the author, what it is and how long ago it was sent. Tap Approve to publish it or Remove to delete it. If nothing is waiting, it says "No pending posts".

Will others see a post that is still pending?

No. It is visible only to you, and to the person who wrote it, as Pending.

How will I know someone posted?

You get a notification "[Name] posted on your wall" with a preview, and "waiting for your approval" if it needs your approval. Your wall badge counts it until you approve or remove it.

Do I need to approve my own posts?

No.

9.4 Spray and sketch posts

What is a spray post?

A drawing or a piece of wall art that you create right inside the app and leave on someone's wall. Others see it replay as it was drawn, with sparkle.

How do I make one?

In the bar, choose Spray wall art. Use the tools: Spray, Draw, Line, Text and Erase, with Undo and Clear. You can also add a template (stickers, gifts, flowers) and a music track. Then tap Done.

What if I try to post an empty canvas?

You will see "Draw or write something first". Add something and try again.

Can I use more than one sticker?

One template or sticker at a time. Placing a new one asks if you want to replace the current drawing.

Are sprays checked before they appear?

No. They go live straight away. The owner is notified: "Sent you a sparkle".

9.5 Stickers and glow styles

How do I move or resize a sticker?

Drag to move, pinch to resize, twist to rotate. There is also a delete button on the sticker.

What are glow styles?

Animation styles for your sparkle: Glow, Sparkle, Twinkle, Breathe, Heartbeat, Wave, Strobe, Comet, Meteor, Chase, Dotted and Alternate. While a sticker is on the canvas, a Sticker Style panel appears so you can choose one and see it live.

9.6 Spray replay and GIF or MP4 export

How does a spray post play?

It replays the drawing stroke by stroke, with the glow animation, and plays the music if one was added.

Can I send a spray outside KuhuChat?

Yes. Tap share on the post. The app prepares a file (you will see "Preparing...") and shares it: an MP4 video if the post has music, otherwise an animated GIF that loops silently. It carries the KuhuChat footer.

Can I forward it inside KuhuChat?

Yes. Choose Forward to contact, Forward to Samaj or Forward to group. It is sent as a GIF or video message in chat.

Why did my export fail?

You will see an error such as "Could not generate export". Try again; if it keeps failing, restart the app.

9.7 My Doors

What is a door?

A small friendly gesture, like knocking at someone's door to say "I was here". You place it on another person's wall. The owner is notified "Knocked on your wall".

How long does a door last?

5 days. Then it disappears from the wall.

Where do I see the doors I placed?

Open My Doors from your wall. It lists every wall where you have a door, how long ago, and how many days are left. When none are left it says "Expired". If you have not placed any, it says "When you place a door on someone's wall, it will appear here."

Can I take a door back?

Yes. Open My Doors, tap the door and confirm "Remove your door from this wall? It will no longer appear there." You can also select several and remove them together.

9.8 Wall notifications and activity

Which wall notifications do I get?

When someone posts on your wall (with a note if it needs your approval); when a post on a wall you follow goes live ("Shared a new post on the Wall", or a photo, video or GIF); and when someone shares a spray drawing.

What do the numbers on the wall icon mean?

New posts on your wall and new activity on the walls of your contacts and Samaj members. Opening a person's wall clears their share of the count. Posts waiting for your approval stay counted until you approve or remove them.

Why does my wall badge count posts I have not seen?

Posts others write on your wall start as pending and count for you until you decide.

9.9 Wall post expiry

Do wall posts stay forever?

No. Approved posts are deleted automatically after 15 days, along with their photo, video, voice note or music. Doors last 5 days.

How do I keep something?

Save the photo or video to your phone, or tag the post to your Diary before it expires.

When does the clean-up happen?

Once a day at night, so a post may stay a few hours past its date.
