Chapter 18: Thread Diary

Your private case files inside KuhuChat. Collect photos, videos, voice notes, documents and messages from anywhere in the app into named threads, and ask the AI about them.

18.1 Diary home and threads

What is the Thread Diary?

It is a place to keep things together. You make a thread with a name, such as "Pep Food Industry" or "House repair", and save photos, videos, voice notes, documents, messages and notes into it. A thread stays until you delete it.

Where do I find it?

Tap the Mitra star button and open the DIARY tab.

What do I see on the Diary home?

Your list of threads, with the newest activity on top. Each row shows the thread name and how many items it holds. A search bar at the top finds threads by name.

How do I create a thread?

Tap + on the Diary home, type a name (for example, "Pep Food Industry") and tap Create. The thread opens straight away. You can also create one while saving something into the Diary (see 18.3).

What does the empty Diary say?

"No threads yet, tag something with 'd' or tap + to start one." Saving anything with the Diary button, or tapping +, starts your first thread.

Can I search my threads in any script?

Yes. Typing "paresh" in English letters also finds a thread named in Gujarati or Hindi, and the other way round. See 23.1.

What is inside a thread?

Items shown as chat-style bubbles in time order, with date headings and a time on each. A bar at the bottom lets you add more.

Can I open a photo, video or document?

Yes. Tap a photo or video to open the full-screen viewer, which supports pinch-zoom. Tap a document to download it and open it in an app on your phone. A location item shows a small map, and tapping it opens Google Maps.

Can I search inside a thread?

Yes. You can search item captions in a thread, also across scripts.

Does the Diary keep the place and time?

Yes. Each item keeps the date and time it happened, the time you saved it, and where it was saved from, such as "Chat with Ramesh", "Rajesh's Wall" or "Community Radar". Items that carry a location keep it.

Is my Diary private?

Yes. A thread is visible only to you.

18.2 Add notes, photos, voice and video

How do I add something directly to a thread?

Open the thread and use the bar at the bottom, the same way as a chat.

  • Type a note and tap send.
  • Tap the attachment button for Gallery, Camera, Document, Audio, GIF, Location or Contact.
  • Tap the mic to record a voice note.
How do I record a voice note?

Tap the mic in the bottom bar and speak. You can listen to it again before sending, then send it. It is added to the thread as a voice note.

Can I add a photo or video from my phone?

Yes. Choose Gallery for existing ones, or Camera to take a new one.

Can I add my location?

Yes. Choose Location. It saves your current position once. There is no live tracking in the Diary.

Can I add a caption?

Items keep a caption, which is a short note about the item, such as "machine torn down". Captions are searchable.

Can I delete an item?

Only the thread owner can delete items. Long-press an item to select it, tap more items to add them, then tap Delete. If someone else tries, they see "Only the thread owner can delete items."

What happens to the original photo if I delete it from the Diary?

Only the Diary's copy goes away. The original in the chat, gallery, radar or wall stays. The file is removed from storage only when nothing else still uses it.

18.3 Save things into the Diary from chat, gallery, radar and wall

How do I save something into the Diary from other places?

Use the Diary (tag) action. You choose a thread, or start a new one on the spot, and the item is saved with a note of where it came from.

How do I save a chat message?
  • Swipe a message to the left.
  • Or long-press messages to select one or more, then tap the Diary button in the top bar.
How do I save from the Gallery?

Swipe a gallery post to the left. To save several, select them and use the Diary button.

How do I save a pin from the Community Radar?

Swipe a pin to the left, or tap the Diary button in the full-screen viewer. To save several, select them in the pin list and tap the Diary button.

How do I save a wall post?

Swipe a wall post to the left.

What can I save from a chat?

Text messages, photos, videos, voice notes, documents and locations. A location from a chat appears in the Diary as a map.

What cannot be saved?

Wall doors, because there is nothing meaningful to store. You cannot save from places that have no Diary button.

What does the thread picker show?

All your threads straight away. Type to narrow the list, or create a new thread right there.

Is tagging free and fast?

Yes. Saving something to the Diary is instant and costs nothing. The AI runs only when you ask a question or start an analysis (see 18.4).

Does the original stay where it was?

Yes. Saving makes a Diary copy of the reference. The chat message, gallery post, pin or wall post remains as it was.

18.4 Ask the AI about a thread

How do I ask the AI about a thread?

Open the thread, tap the Mitra icon and choose Ask a question. Type your question, or tap the mic to dictate, and send.

What can I ask?

Anything about what is saved in that thread, for example "When was the machine repaired?" or "What did Ramesh say about the price?".

Does the AI make things up?

It answers only from the items and past analyses in your thread. Every answer shows the sources it used as small thumbnails, such as a photo, video, note or a past analysis. If nothing relevant is found, it says so.

How many questions can I ask?

50 questions per thread in any 24 hours. After that, try again later.

How does the AI look at photos and videos?

Use Select items to analyze to pick photos and videos. The AI studies them and writes a summary, which is saved in Past analyses. Chapter 19 explains this in detail.

Can I ask about an earlier analysis?

Yes. Open it from Past analyses and choose Ask about this analysis. The next question is answered from that analysis only.

Is my Diary sent to an AI?

Questions and the items they need are sent to KuhuChat's server and Google's Gemini AI to produce an answer. Only your thread's items are used.

Does the AI cost me anything?

The app shows no charge for it. The daily limits above apply.

18.5 Diary reminders

Can I set a reminder for a thread?

Yes. From the Diary home, long-press a thread to select it and tap the reminder button. You can also set one from inside a thread.

Can I set reminders for several threads at once?

No. A reminder points at one thread, so the reminder button works when exactly one thread is selected.

What happens when it fires?

You get a notification at the time you chose. It follows the normal reminder rules in Chapter 12.

18.6 Delete or leave a thread

How do I delete a thread?

Swipe a thread to the right, or long-press to select threads and tap Delete. You are asked "Delete thread?" before it goes.

What does deleting remove?

The thread and every item in it, permanently. The originals in your chats, gallery, radar and wall are not removed.

Can I delete several threads?

Yes. Select them with long-press and tap Delete. If some of the selected threads are owned by you and some are shared with you, the owned ones are deleted and the shared ones are left.

What does "Leave thread" mean?

If a thread was shared with you, you cannot delete it. Leaving removes your access and leaves the thread for its owner.

Can a non-owner delete a thread?

No. You will see "Only the thread owner can delete this thread."

Are other people told when a thread is deleted?

If a thread had people it was shared with, each of them gets a notification, "Thread deleted", saying the thread was deleted by the owner and is no longer available.

Can I get a deleted thread back?

No. Deleting is permanent.
